Don't know what triggered it but three days ago I suddenly got this error. |
Odds are an update to your security software is what triggered it - i.e. your security software is now preventing GSAK from working properly.

Have tried several of the am. steps without success. |
We have no idea what this means, since you are not specific about what you tried or didn't try.

Any other suggestions? |
Hard to say without knowing what you have tried. My main suggestion is to restart your computer in Safe Mode (with networking) and try doing what isn't working in normal Windows mode. If GSAK works correctly in Safe Mode (with Networking) then some other software on your computer is getting in the way, most likely your security software, as I said above. Since you don't say what that is, the best I can suggest is that you open the control panel for your security software and exempt GSAK.exe, GPSBabel.exe, and the GSAK application data folders from "live" or "real time" scanning. You can find the application data folder using Tools>Folder Finder.
