Incapable of forcing update on State/County by Kai Team - 2013-08-20

QUOTE (fk@mvps.org @ August 20, 2013 04:34 pm)
in every other dialogue that GSAK offers, "Save" (next to the settings name drop-down) means "give these settings a name so I can recall them with ease". But "Save" is not necessary to change a few settings for right now.

Example: Export to GPX (Ctrl+U) for Basecamp. You can alter settings without saving them, and these settings will be obeyed when you start the export.

Yes, the key words being "when you start the export" - i.e. when you perform the action. In this case you are closing the Load dialog without performing the action. As I said above, it does not make sense to Load a file that has not yet been created or downloaded! Therefore, if you want to change the settings, you must save them. If you are altering settings that were previously saved, you can save them with the same name or a different name.

In this example (load-GPX dialogue called from elsewhere), you can alter settings, you can save settings, you can recall saved settings -- but *none* of it will stick.

The settings will be applied (i.e. "stick") if you:

1) save them and
2) select those saved settings in the parent API dialog, e.g.:

before clicking "OK" to perform the API action and the Load.
