Upfront, I would like to say that even though the outcome of this does effect me directly, there is a little discussion that should be involved. 1) Locationless caches don't exist anymore, and when they did the number of icons available were far fewer. So finders of Locationless caches wouldn't really apply for a high level badge anyway. However, they became Waymarks...if Locationless caches are allowed then Waymarks might as well be too. 2) Benchmarks and Waymarks have badges just like any cache type or size. They don't count toward one's find count so maybe those separate badges are enough? Just a couple thoughts. I met a nice young lady during Block Party weekend who found "14 icons" in a day and I couldn't see how that was possible in Seattle on that day. (We did 10 according to the macro.) When I asked her she not only included Benchmarks and Waymarks, but also the new Lab caches. |
I just have to say that Locationless caches and Waymarks are not the same thing, and Locationless caches did not become Waymarks (and don't even suggest that Virtual caches became "Challenges"). Image may be NSFW.

Locationless caches were listed on the Geocaching.com site, with the same guidelines as any other cache. They were included in Pocket Queries. You could search for them at Geocaching.com. They count(ed) towards your find count at geocaching.com.
I don't use BadgeGen and therefore it has no affect on me, but I think Kyle would be asking for grief ("Why doesn't my found count in BadgeGen match my found count at gc.com?") if he started counting things created by Groundspeak that are not counted as finds (or supported) by geocaching.com.
