Correct wrong state? by The CEO - 2013-09-03

The macro CountryStateCounty___Overwrite and variants of it ONLY uses the GSAK polygon data. As you write, there are currently no state polygons available for Belgium and therefore the macro won't make any change to the state data for caches in Belgium.
The state will thus remain the same as the state that has been set in GSAK, generally by loading a GPX file (PQ, API, gc.com website).

I have been making the polygon data for the counties in Belgium together with another GSAK user in the past, but since it is quite a bit of work and practically all caches in Belgium have the state set in the GPX file, I felt (and feel) no real need for taking up this task for the state polygons myself. Sorry sad.gif
Of course, if you have or want to make state polygons for Belgium yourself these can be included in GSAK.

The other options are E-mailing the cache owners of caches that have listed a wrong state, or just accept that some caches have listed the wrong state.

One final note: please be aware that the macro CountryStateCounty___Overwrite also overwrites the country. So running this macro on caches close (within ~1-2 km) to the country borders MAY results in the caches now being reported in another country. Since the country polygons in GSAK are rather "basic", the chances of this happening are quite high.
See the image below for a comparison of the GSAK polygon (red) and the true international border (grey). Most caches in the Dutch city of Maastricht will show being in Belgium after running the macro!!!

My personal recommendation is to use CountyStateUpdate, which will only update the county and state - with for these the same result as CountryStateCounty___Overwrite - , but will not change the country.
