Yes, thats true. Garmin has already confirmed this. The radius for 'nearby' search is something about 200km. Of course you can jump to another point and you will see the Caches also there on the map. |
For my experience with Garmin GPSr's over the years, they historically do not quick search beyond 100 miles. Perhaps that 200 km limit is relatively similar. If I search for a specific GC code, I can find just that one unless I zoom to the map, then they will eventually appear if I find near that far away location.
The first time this happened I was on a long road trip and freaked out thinking my caches along a route (done completely by hand) only had around 20 caches. I had caches loaded for the various locations I'd be stopping for any length of time plus those along the route, and not having a laptop handy to fix this really increased the stress!
