Geoaches are always loaded as geocaches when using either the GPX or GGZ options, it's Child Waypoints only that will be POIs. The Garmin units don't deal with Child Waypoints well.
It does what it says on the tin. ![]() However, thinking about it, the option to include Child Waypoints in the GPX file should be greyed out when using the GGZ format as AFAIK the Garmin units don't support Waypoints within a GGZ file, just geocaches. ![]() If you want to send Child Waypoints as Garmin 'Waypoints' then you would have to use GPX instead of GGZ format. |
Thanks for the clarifications. When I wrote that "I want geocaches loaded into my unit as geocaches, not as POIs." I had misunderstood webscouter.'s suggestion that I "export as POI." For some reason, I read that to mean using another native GSAK function or some other macro to export everything (geocaches and waypoints) as POIs. Now I realize he was suggesting that I check the "Send Child points as POIs" box in the macro this thread is all about.
Based on your revelation that Garmin units don't support Waypoints in a GGZ file, I now understand why I'm not seeing any Waypoints like parking coordinates on my 650.
I also double-checked the contents of my Oregon 550t (which, of course, was loaded with a GPX file), and now I do see parking coordinates for geocaches in the Waypoints list.
I would prefer that Child waypoints like parking coordinates be listed as Waypoints, but I prefer even more, in the case of the Oregon 650, to be able to use the GGZ file format. I guess the best route is indeed to export these waypoints as POIs.
Thanks again for setting me straight on this.
