Although it isn't clear, I believe meremich is merely pointing out that GSAK goes into a loop, rather than terminating (preferably with an error message). In other words, I don't think he expects it to work when GSAK is blocked from accessing the Internet.
However, it does make me wonder if there is something about this particular security software that is causing the problem - e.g. does the firewall "reply" to GSAK's attempt to access the 'net in a way that makes GSAK think it is accessing the Internet but not getting the expected reply, therefore GSAK tries again (and again). I tried to Google "endpoint security protection software" but it appears that several vendors (McAfee, Symantec, GFI, Microsoft) have security software called "Endpoint", and there is no way to know which one this is from the information given by meremich.
