GSAK Version: 8.3.1.56 Windows Version: Previous Windows XP on an Acer netbook. Now Windows 7 under Bootcamp on a MacBook I'm trying to: Find some GSAK support files. The steps I've taken are: Looked thru Win7 file structure. The results (including error messages, if any): Any changes since this worked before (if it did work before): On my netbook, I was able to find things like the actual files where the databases were kept. I also found the files generated by CacheRoutev3. I could distribute the .html file via Dropbox to the other folks going on an outing, and they could print them, or open them on a tablet browser, so as to keep up with where we were going next, etc. I'm only a couple of days into using Windows 7 on the Macbook, but I've been unable to discern where the support files for GSAK are located. Are they in a different place under Win7 vs. WinXP? How can I find these files? |
I'll take a shot in the dark.
Assuming the emulator your using on the macbook runs Win7 and lets Win7 create it's required file structures, your find the executables in C:\Program Files (x86)\GSAK. All the data files and other files changed by GSAK will be found in C:\Users\[login name]\AppData\Roaming\GSAK. There you will find interesting things like the data subdirectory where your databases are kept, the Macro subdirectory where your macros are kept. The folder finder hint is a good hint.
The reason for the split like this is security related. Win 7 does not allow applications, other than the installer, to write into the program files directory.
