GSAK Help file issues/typo/bugs by Kai Team - 2013-06-21

This forum is usually used to report errors in the help file, but your request to add help to a dialog is a help file "issue", so it's an appropriate place to post. I noticed the main Load dialog help reference also does not address this question, so perhaps it should be added to the help either on the main Load dialog or here.

FYI, "Force the file name to be saved" means that GSAK will look for this exact file name each time these saved settings are used, and if the file is not found, nothing will be loaded (and you will receive an error message). If you want to use these saved settings to load files of different names that are always in the same folder on your PC, choose "folder" for Load Type on the Load dialog and check this box. If you want to use the saved settings for a very specific purpose (e.g. loading a specific PQ into a specific database), select the File option check the box.

Similarly, checking "Force the database to be saved" mean that GSAK will always load the files into the specific database that is currently shown in your Load settings whenever these saved settings are used. If this is UNchecked, GSAK will load the file(s) specified by the saved settings into the currently selected database. If this box is checked, GSAK will always load the files into the database specified on the Load settings when you saved them.

Some examples:

I have saved Load settings that I use to load specific PQ's into specific databases - e.g. my found PQ goes into the Found database, Closest to Home PQ goes into the default DB, etc. Since the PQ names are always the same, these setting have Force File Name checked so that only the desired PQ (among a folder that may contain other GPX files) are loaded. These settings also have Force Database checked because I want the specific PQ's to be loaded in the correct database.

I also have saved Load settings that I use to load single downloads of GPX files from cache pages into the currently selected database. In that case, Force File Name is UNchecked because the GPX file names differ depending on the cache, and Force Database is UNchecked because I want the files loaded into whatever database I current have selected. wink.gif
