A couple of reasons might explain that

1. The feature was added after getting geting authorization to use the api
2. It is probably considered a "soft" violation by Groundspeak (assuming they are even aware of it)

That doesn't make it right or OK

So regardless, I will make it very clear that I have no intention of following suit and coding this or similar violations.
