If you edit the template before fetching the logs, the template will be applied automatically. However, if you edit the template after fetching the logs, you have to reapply the templates to use the edits:
1) Select the logs to which you want to reapply templates. You can select logs using any of the standard Windows selection conventions (e.g. Ctrl-A for all, Ctrl-Shift click for a contiguous group, Ctrl click for a non-contiguous group, etc).
2) Right click on any selected log in the grid and choose "Reapply Templates":
