I create a query in Geocaching.com,  when I go to save that query and transfer it over to my machine, the files in the query show up as Gsak data files. For some reason, I believe that the 600 isnt liking them and wants Gpx files instead.

GPX files are files with the file name extension: .gpx

You should force Windows to show you the filename extension since hiding them is obviously not useful. (Here is how).

When you installed GSAK or forced associations within GSAK, files with .gpx extensions were registered in Windows as "GSAK data files". Other software can also use .gpx files (GPSbabel, Google Earth, Mapsource, Basecamp,...) but only one association for any one action (e.g. open) can be registered for default purposes.

So are you saying that you are taking this file from geocaching.com and saving it on your machine and then transferring that file itself to the GPSr. Or are you loading it into GSAK and exporting a gpx file from GSAK which you then put on the GPSr?

Also, did that file name happen to be solely a numeric name? If so see this recent discovery.

First off, I was mistaken, the file extension is in fact GPX, but under the file type column it is called a GSAK data file (may not mean anything).

I have done both ways, I have taken the file and brought it into GSAK directly from GS using the Goecaching.com access tab. I have also, brought the files into both Mapsource (opening in them from within, and Basecamp (import function).

No matter which method I use, the unit will not recognize them.

Heres a twist though, when I bought the machine it worked correctly. It showed a complete list of geocaches loaded onto the machine.

So, I took it out for a test run, clicked on a cache, then clicked on next option to get the details to show. At that point the machine froze. So, I came home, deleted the caches, reinstalled them, same freeze. So, I upgraded the firmware from 2.60 to 2.80, still freezes.

I decided to give Garmin a call. With the 600, there is no way to delete the geocaches (all at one time) from within the unit. I asked if there was a way, to see if I wasnt seeing it, but the technican said that currently there is no way.

So the only way you can delete them is through the file structure when the unit shows as a USB drive. Whats bizarre is that I can delete them, reboot the GPS, and it rebuilds them. So, they are somewhere else on the machine. Maybe its taking the GGZ file (which Garmin told me I didnt need to delete, and recreating the GPZ file from that. I will test that theory.

When I click on the geocaching icon, I get a message that says No results found Try adjusting search parameters

I tend to believe tha the caches are on the unit, since they DO show in the file structure. I have adjusted the parameters to show everything yet nothing is showing.

Stay tuned for the next chapter.
