This is a response to several points.
I do not appear to have the read-only bug in windows 7 issue. Checking the permissions of the file and they never seem to be set to read-only. Also the same oddity occurs on my Windows 8 machine.
As for AV, I disabled all my realtime protection and that made no difference. I also disabled my backup software as well and that had no improvement either.
Finally, the change to the string code caused a different oddity but still would not be recommended as much as Don_J's suggestion of limiting the number of entries.
