I wonder if you could use File >> Export >> GPX/LOC file and check the boxes to "Include additional child waypoints" and "ONLY child waypoints (no parents)"
That would be a separate step from running the Garmin Export macro to export a GGZ file without children.
Disclaimer I don't have one of the newer units to test this theory.
