The Boolean field is 'HasUserNote' and that's what you should try in the MFilter.

('UserNote' is a string field containing both the User Note and the User Log field separated by '$-' )

Both work correctly for me. Try running Database Repair/Defrag.

Hmmm, Ok. Already did the Repair/Defrag, because I accidentally inflated every cache I ever logged with every log I ever did. Talk about a slow go and a HUGE database. But, the macro did exactly what I told it to. I went back and purged the UserNotes with a Global Replace, then ran the repair/defrag to reduce the db size. Was nearly 3 GB before, and is now about 3 MB, so I know it did it's job. In fact, I've run it several times just for a maintenance item while I'm tinkering with macros. (Yes, this time I backed it up elsewhere too).

Tried the HasUserNote in the MFilter, and it does the same thing as selecting the Yes checkbox in the filter dialog, and NOT(HasUserNote) does the same thing as checking the NO checkbox. Methinks a macro I've run somewhere along the way has set a flag that shouldn't be set. Perhaps a repair macro is in order, because running repair/defrag does not fix that.

Will have a closer look at the $d_ fields and crawl around in the data a little more. If I see what I think I'm gonna, probably going to need a macro to clean it up.

UNLESS, a global replace of UserNote with null will cause that problem ........ Probably don't want to do that any more, eh?
